Founded in 1982, Capital University Center (CUC) became an institution of the South Dakota Board of Regents (SDBOR) in 2003.
Our students receive face-to-face instruction in the center of the state, more than 160 miles from the state’s nearest public university campus. CUC works with all six of the SDBOR public universities to provide undergraduate and graduate level degree and certificate programs in both face-to-face and online formats.
Because most CUC students are non-traditional, we are geared to helping them complete an academic program with evening, weekend, and hybrid classes. We also offer qualified high school students the opportunity to pursue dual credit courses, gaining a jump start on their college careers. During the summer semester, we encourage traditional-age students in and around Pierre to join our classes at CUC and lighten their course loads during their on-campus semesters—or simply finish their degrees that much faster. We also offer non-credit seminars and adult education opportunities to continue our broad range of community education services for local citizens.
Thanks to the generous support of Wallace R. Halverson and donations from Jim and Susan Mollison, among others, Capital University Center is proud to now be offering central South Dakotans the same outstanding academic opportunities that we envisioned back in 1982 from a state-of-the-art facility here in Pierre.
Come and learn!
