Admissions applicants 21 years of age and younger must submit ACT scores. The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, mathematics, reading and science. If you are under age 22 and need to take the ACT exam, you can register online at www.actstudent.org for the next ACT exam administered at Riggs High School, Pierre SD. (605-773-7350 for questions). Or, you can check with the university to which you are applying to find out if you can take a residual ACT test which is sometimes available on campus more frequently than the nationally scheduled tests are given at Riggs High School. ACT exams are not available at CUC.

The ACCUPLACER is an untimed, computerized test that helps your college evaluate your skills and place you into appropriate courses. ACCUPLACER offers tests in reading, writing, and math. You will receive your ACCUPLACER test results immediately upon completion of testing, and your score report will include placement messages about the courses you should take.
CUC provides ACCUPLACER testing between 8 am and 12 noon, or between 1 pm and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Find out about possible costs and schedule your testing by phone (605-773-2160) or email (sdsu.cuc@sdstate.edu). If you have been accepted as a student by a South Dakota Board of Regents public university, you will need direction from them to schedule your ACCUPLACER test at CUC. (Remember that test-takers not accepted to a South Dakota Board of Regents public university degree program will be charged an administration fee in addition to the cost of their test. Also, all test-takers challenging an ACT or earlier ACCUPLACER score will be charged for the cost of their test.)

ONLINE COURSES:
CUC provides proctored testing for online classes between 8 am and 12 noon, or between 1 pm and 5 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Schedule your testing by phone (605-773-2160) or by email (sdsu.cuc@sdstate.edu) at least 3 days in advance for a better chance to get a space in our schedule. Thursdays and Fridays are very busy, for example, so they fill up fast. [Remember that test-takers not associated with a South Dakota Board of Regents public university will be charged an administration fee in addition to the cost of their test.]
Note: Rawlins Library (605-773-7421) is another possible test proctoring site for testing after 5 pm or on weekends. Student completion and submission of a proctor form is required to test at Rawlins for South Dakota public university courses.
Each of the South Dakota public universities offers some graduate degrees online, and CUC can proctor tests for those graduate courses. Information about these programs can be found here.

CLEP exams help students save money and time, and achieve their college goals. Developed by the College Board, CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program, available at more than 2,900 colleges and universities. By earning a passing score on CLEP exams, students can earn college credit, accelerating their education and allowing their placement into the right classes for their level of knowledge. CLEP exams are offered in numerous introductory-level college subjects.
